And she labels the parts of a spider

but will hardly write her name.

On an unrelated note- when we start "school" at 8:00pm, I can get both reading and math done in one sitting. Isn't that crazy? In the morning, I am pulling teeth. Silly girl who takes after her daddy. I bet Granny (who was Jeremy's 1st grade teacher) would have had a much easier time getting his creative writing done at night.

Random Cuteness

Sonic Happy Hour

Surprise!

Take my pic-ture mom! Cheese!

Talking to brother

This is a terrible picture, but it's Atticus' favorite past time. He loves to take things out of the laundry basket or drawer.

One second: playing, Next second: passed out

Build your own locker

Free, air conditioned Saturday morning fun! Jeremy took the kids to lowes for their free workshop. The kids even got aprons this time. (side note- I am so glad we are not doing soccer this season. It's opening weekend and it would have been hot!)

Yes, it's still way too hot

So we went to the sprinkler park.

That's it! I'm moving!

I do not live in a desert! I live in the Texas hill country! There are (okay were) rivers and flowers! 106 just will not do. If you would like to reach me I will be in Tennessee. Where it rains. And there are 4 seasons. I may stop off in Juneau first. You know, to cool down.

1st Day

Jackson had a great first day of school. At least I think, he hasn't said a whole lot. Jackson has to decompress after being around large crowds of people, and he doesn't say much until he's done that.

And Providence, well, she's Providence. We had some rough spots, but all in all, she did work some today.

(when you're homeschooled, you can wear whatever.)

Random Cell Phone Pics and Sea World

We went to Sea World on Friday. It was hot, but still fun. Thanks goodness for water parks and $.99 drinks.

Funny story, a random lady walked up to me and asked to hold Atticus. I think I stared at her, a little dumbfound, but I let her. She asked how much he weighed and I told her 23lbs. Then she looked at me and said: "No wonder you look so tired." Really, people, I have 4 kids 6 and under. It was 4:45 in 102 degree weather. I was at an amusement park. If I didn't look tired, I would be crazy.

"No more mom!"

Here's Atticus dunking his head in the water. He does it all the time in the bath, too.

And some randomness from my phone. (I got a new one for my birthday, so I was loading all the old ones!)

This is what Atticus likes to do when he nurses. Excuse my folding mess. For the record: laundry is the bane of my existence.

Jackson's new shoes. They are his first pair of shoes with laces. I love me some sketchers z-straps and never got around to teaching him how to tie. He knows now.

This girl knows how to enjoy ice cream.

Meet the teacher

Jackson had meet the teacher yesterday. Ack! 1st grade!

His teacher seems so nice! He is in class with a couple of his good friends from last year. He is even sitting next to the same girl he sat with all year in Kinder. According to her mom, she talked about him all the time.

His teacher gives her class a warning and if they shape back up, they get to go back to green. She doesn't mark it in their folder, so they still get a happy face. I think that's the way to go. Last year, if they kids messed up one time they didn't get happy face.

She also said: I don't send the kids out of the room for practice. This is first grade, we have too much academic stuff going on that they don't need to miss. (In kinder, on their first transgression, they are sent out to the hall to "practice" with an aide). I like 1st grade's ideas better.

Hopefully he will have a great year!

It's hard

To say no

To this face

And

He knows it

(even when he dumps out the fresh pair of contacts I just started using)

(Or uses the entire, new container of shampoo to make bubbles in his bath)

It's a good thing he's cute.
